Is your system... not systeming? Leave the rest to the pros! Our dispatch team is standing by Monday through Friday to take your call, with on-call technicians available nights and weekends to take care of those inevitable after-hours emergencies.

Our Service: We start by scheduling a time for one of our highly-skilled Service Technicians to visit your home and assess your system. What makes us different: We take time to perform a full Diagnostic Report and provide you with details on the overall health of your HVAC system and its major components. Our tech will review his findings with you, and present you with any required and/or recommended courses of action to get your heating and air conditioning system back to peak operating condition.

The Usual Culprits: What You Can Check for if Your System Isn't Cooling

  • Check the air filter. This is THE most common cause of an air conditioner not cooling properly! A dirty air filter can restrict airflow and prevent the AC from cooling your home effectively. Clean or replace the air filter according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  • Check the condenser coils. The condenser coils are located outside of your home and help to remove heat from the refrigerant. If the coils are dirty, they can't effectively remove heat and the AC will not cool your home. Clean the condenser coils with a garden hose and a mild detergent.
  • Check the thermostat. The thermostat is the device that tells your HVAC equipment what to do. If the thermostat is not set correctly, the AC may not cool your home effectively. Make sure that the thermostat is set to the desired temperature and setting (Heat vs Cool). If your thermostat takes batteries, check those, too!
  • Check the breaker. Is the A/C not powering on at all? Make sure that the circuit breaker for the AC unit is not tripped. If it is, flip it back to the on position.
  • Consider the weather. If it is extremely hot outside, your AC may not be able to keep up with the demand. Try setting the thermostat a few degrees higher.

 ...and if all else fails...

  • Call a qualified technician. If you have checked all of the above and your AC is still not cooling, it's time to give Billy Black HVAC a call!
